Cyberpunk Trading Card Game: The Complete TCG Guide
Night City is opening its doors to a new generation of Edgerunners. With Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, the worlds of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are expanding into a physical trading card game built for players and collectors.
Produced by WeirdCo under license from CD PROJEKT RED, Cyberpunk TCG lets players create their own crew using iconic characters, cyberware, weapons, vehicles, and technologies from the Cyberpunk universe.
V, Johnny Silverhand, Jackie Welles, Adam Smasher, Panam Palmer, iconic Arasaka figures, and many other characters from across the Cyberpunk franchise appear throughout the game, while characters such as Lucy and Rebecca have also received special promotional cards.
The game combines strategic card play with a distinctive dice-based system, original artwork, collectible variants, promotional cards, and sealed products.
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is now supported by Luma TCG, allowing collectors to manage their cards, graded items, sealed products, and set progress alongside Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana, Riftbound, and many other TCGs.
What Is Cyberpunk Trading Card Game?
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, also known as Cyberpunk TCG, is a competitive trading card game in which each player controls a crew of Edgerunners.
Your goal is to recruit powerful characters, equip them with advanced cyberware, complete dangerous contracts, build your reputation, and steal opportunities from your rival.
The game translates many familiar elements of Night City into TCG mechanics:
- Missions and contracts are represented by Gigs.
- Your crew's reputation is measured through Street Cred.
- Eurodollars, known as Eddies, are used to play cards.
- Weapons, implants, and vehicles appear as Gear.
- Quickhacks and tactical actions are represented by Programs.
- Characters joining your crew are represented by Units and Legends.
Cyberpunk TCG does more than place familiar characters on collectible cards. Its gameplay is designed around the risk-taking, cybernetic upgrades, reputation, and constant struggle for power that define the Cyberpunk universe.
A Record-Breaking Kickstarter Campaign
Before its retail release, Cyberpunk Trading Card Game was introduced through a Kickstarter campaign running from March 17 to April 17, 2026.
The project raised $28,353,088 from 50,773 backers, significantly exceeding its original funding goal of $100,000.
This remarkable campaign immediately positioned Cyberpunk TCG as one of the most closely watched new trading card game launches in recent years.
Kickstarter backers were able to obtain products marked as Beta, along with alternative artwork, promotional cards, exclusive accessories, and other campaign-specific rewards.
These early products are distinct from the later Retail release and may become an important category for collectors interested in first printings, exclusive treatments, and limited promotional items.
Welcome to Night City: The First Cyberpunk TCG Set
The first Cyberpunk Trading Card Game set is called Welcome to Night City.
Its specialist retail release is scheduled for November 6, 2026, following prerelease events beginning during the weekend of October 30.
Welcome to Night City introduces the main characters, factions, equipment, locations, and technologies that form the foundation of Cyberpunk TCG.
The set features characters and themes connected to:
- V and the Konpeki Plaza heist;
- Johnny Silverhand and the history of Night City;
- Jackie Welles, Viktor Vektor, and T-Bug;
- Arasaka and its corporate forces;
- Adam Smasher and heavily augmented combat units;
- Panam Palmer and the Nomads;
- Night City's criminal gangs;
- characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners;
- iconic cyberware such as Mantis Blades, Sandevistan, and Kiroshi Optics.
Welcome to Night City exists in several forms.
Cards from Welcome to Night City — Beta were distributed through the Kickstarter campaign, while Welcome to Night City — Retail products are intended for traditional hobby store distribution.
Beta products feature a specific identifying symbol and may contain alternative artwork or variants that are not available in the Retail version.
For collectors, it is therefore essential to verify the exact set, collector number, finish, language, and printing of every card.
How to Play Cyberpunk Trading Card Game
Cyberpunk TCG uses an unusual victory condition.
Instead of reducing an opponent's life total to zero, you win by starting your turn with at least seven Gigs under your control.
Gig Dice
Each player uses a set of six polyhedral dice:
- one four-sided die;
- one six-sided die;
- one eight-sided die;
- one ten-sided die;
- one twelve-sided die;
- one twenty-sided die.
These dice represent Gigs, the jobs and contracts available throughout Night City.
At the beginning of your turn, you choose one of the remaining dice in your Fixer zone, roll it, and move it into your Gig zone. The twenty-sided die is always collected last.
Because each player begins with only six dice, reaching the seven Gigs required to win usually means stealing at least one Gig from your opponent.
This creates a constant struggle between developing your own crew, protecting your contracts, and attacking your rival's Gig zone.
Street Cred
The total value displayed on your Gig dice represents your Street Cred.
Street Cred is not the direct victory condition. Controlling two Gig dice remains more important than controlling a single die with a high result, even when that die provides more Street Cred.
However, many cards require a specific amount of Street Cred before their abilities can be activated.
Choosing which dice to collect and managing their values adds another strategic layer to the game. A high Street Cred total can unlock powerful cards, while some strategies may benefit from deliberately maintaining a lower reputation.
The Main Cyberpunk TCG Card Types
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game uses four primary card types: Legends, Units, Gear, and Programs.
Legends
Legends are the central characters behind your deck and strategy.
Every constructed deck uses exactly three different Legends. They begin the game face down.
Once per turn, you may spend one Eddie to reveal one of your Legends at random. The revealed Legend then provides an immediate or ongoing effect that supports your overall strategy.
Some Legends can also use the Go Solo ability, allowing them to enter the battlefield directly and participate in the action.
Your choice of Legends determines much more than which characters appear in your deck. They also influence your available RAM, deck-building options, and preferred style of play.
Units
Units represent the active members of your crew.
Units can attack an opposing Unit that has already been engaged or launch a direct attack against your opponent's Gig zone.
During combat, the Unit with the highest power wins. If both Units have the same power, they are both defeated.
When a Unit attacks your opponent directly, it steals at least one Gig. Units reaching 10, 20, or more power may be able to steal several Gigs during a single attack.
Units are therefore essential for defending your contracts, controlling the battlefield, and reaching the seven Gigs needed to win.
Gear
Gear cards represent the weapons, cyberware, vehicles, and equipment found throughout Night City.
Gear can be attached to a Unit or Legend to increase its power or provide additional abilities.
Mantis Blades, Sandevistan technology, iconic weapons, optical implants, and other cybernetic upgrades can transform an ordinary Unit into a major threat.
Gear also gives collectors access to some of the most recognizable objects and technologies from the Cyberpunk universe.
Programs
Programs create immediate effects before being placed in the discard pile.
Some Programs can only be played during your own turn. Others feature the Quick keyword and can be used in response to an opponent's attack or action.
Programs represent quickhacks, digital interference, tactical decisions, and other temporary advantages.
A well-timed Program can interrupt an enemy attack, protect an important Unit, change a combat result, or create an unexpected opportunity to steal Gigs.
Eddies: The Cyberpunk TCG Resource System
Cards are played by spending Eddies, represented by the familiar €$ symbol.
Once per turn, you may sell an eligible card from your hand. That card is placed face down in your Eddie zone and becomes a reusable resource during future turns.
This system forces players to make important decisions throughout the game.
A powerful card may be valuable for its effect, but selling it could provide the resources needed to execute a larger strategy. Keeping too many cards can limit your economy, while selling the wrong card may remove an important option from your hand.
Legends can also be engaged as resources, giving players additional ways to manage their available Eddies.
How to Build a Cyberpunk TCG Deck
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game deck construction follows several important rules:
- Your deck must use exactly three Legends with different names.
- Your main deck must contain between 40 and 50 cards.
- You may include no more than three copies of the same card.
- Every card must respect the RAM limits provided by your selected Legends.
RAM functions as Cyberpunk TCG's color and affinity system.
Each Legend provides a certain amount of RAM in a particular color. The combined RAM supplied by your three Legends determines which cards may be included in your deck.
Choosing your Legends therefore defines the entire identity of your strategy.
Focusing heavily on one RAM color may provide access to more demanding and specialized cards. Combining several colors can offer greater flexibility, but it may also restrict the most powerful cards available within each individual color.
Welcome to Night City Starter Decks
Two Starter Decks introduce the main mechanics and strategic styles of Cyberpunk Trading Card Game.
Each deck contains a 40-card main deck, three Legends, and the dice required to begin playing.
Embracing Power
The Embracing Power Starter Deck focuses on the military, political, and financial influence of Arasaka.
Its three Legends are:
- Goro Takemura: Hands Unclean;
- Yorinobu Arasaka: Embracing Destruction;
- Saburo Arasaka: Stubborn Patriarch.
Embracing Power aims to develop high-powered Units, improve them with Gear, and take advantage of a high Street Cred total.
This deck is particularly suitable for players who enjoy direct strategies, powerful statistics, battlefield control, and heavily upgraded characters.
The Heist
The The Heist Starter Deck features:
- V: Corporate Exile;
- Viktor Vektor: Sit Down and Relax;
- Jackie Welles: Pour One Out For Me.
Its strategy is more methodical and reactive.
The deck uses quickhacks, card draw, reactions, and Gig manipulation to maintain a relatively low Street Cred total while preparing efficient counterattacks.
The Heist is designed for players who prefer to observe their opponent, interrupt important actions, generate card advantage, and gradually take control of the game.
Each Starter Deck also contains several cards that are mechanically unique to that product. This makes both decks relevant not only for new players, but also for competitive players and collectors who want access to every available card.
Booster Packs, Displays, and Sealed Products
Welcome to Night City is also being released through booster packs, booster displays, and additional sealed products.
Collectors should distinguish between several product categories:
- Beta Starter Decks;
- Retail Starter Decks;
- Beta booster packs and displays from Kickstarter;
- Retail booster packs and displays;
- Kickstarter boxes and campaign accessories;
- promotional products linked to organized events;
- sealed display cases;
- prerelease products and event rewards.
A Beta product and its Retail equivalent should not automatically be treated as the same collectible item.
Their identifying marks, distribution methods, artwork variants, contents, and availability may differ.
In Luma TCG, sealed products can be added and managed separately, helping collectors track the exact version and quantity of every Starter Deck, booster box, display, or other unopened product they own.
Cyberpunk TCG Rarities and Collectible Variants
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is designed for both players and collectors.
Cards may appear in several rarity levels, including:
- Common;
- Uncommon;
- Rare;
- Epic;
- Secret;
- Nova Rare.
In addition to standard rarity levels, Cyberpunk TCG includes different finishes, printings, and collectible treatments:
- foil cards;
- alternative artwork;
- Iconic variants;
- full-art cards;
- promotional cards;
- winner-stamped cards;
- judge-stamped cards;
- Beta printings;
- Retail printings;
- prerelease cards;
- organized play rewards.
Two cards with the same name may therefore have very different availability and market values depending on their collector number, artwork, set, finish, language, or distribution method.
To identify a Cyberpunk TCG card accurately, collectors should always verify:
- the complete card name;
- the collector number;
- the expansion or product;
- whether it is a Beta, Retail, or promotional printing;
- whether it is foil or non-foil;
- the card's language;
- its physical condition;
- its grading company and grade, when applicable.
Accurate identification is especially important when tracking valuable cards, completing a master set, or submitting cards for professional grading.
Will Cyberpunk TCG Be Available in Other Languages?
Cards distributed through the Kickstarter campaign were printed in English.
The Cyberpunk TCG team has stated that it is working on additional languages, including French. However, at the time of writing, no precise release date has been announced for an official French-language printing.
Luma TCG tracks cards according to the physical versions that have actually been released.
The Cyberpunk catalog currently lists official English cards without creating translated versions that do not correspond to existing physical products. Additional languages can be added separately when those cards are officially produced and distributed.
This distinction is important because a card's language may influence its availability, collector demand, and market value.
Cyberpunk TCG Organized Play
WeirdCo is supporting Cyberpunk Trading Card Game with a structured organized play program.
Players will be able to participate in several types of events:
- Welcome to Night City sealed prerelease events;
- weekly Night City Brawls at local game stores;
- larger local Night City Showdowns;
- competitive Edgerunner Open Regionals;
- future invitation-based championships.
Night City Brawls are expected to begin after the November 6, 2026 Retail release.
These events can award promotional foil cards with exclusive treatments, adding another collectible category beyond standard booster products.
The organized play structure is likely to introduce new promotional cards, stamped variants, event rewards, and limited-distribution items over time.
Collectors interested in completing a Cyberpunk TCG master set will therefore need to follow both retail releases and official in-store events.
Why Cyberpunk Trading Card Game Matters to Collectors
Cyberpunk TCG brings together several features that can make a new trading card game especially appealing to collectors.
First, it is based on a globally recognized universe with characters that appeal to both TCG players and fans of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Second, it has an identifiable gameplay system built around Gig dice, Street Cred, cybernetic upgrades, and stealing contracts from an opponent.
Its launch also introduces several distinct collectible categories:
- Beta and Retail printings;
- Starter Deck exclusives;
- Kickstarter promotional cards;
- Iconic variants;
- Nova Rares;
- foil cards;
- alternative artwork;
- organized play rewards;
- graded cards;
- sealed Kickstarter and Retail products.
Finally, a structured organized play program gives the game an opportunity to develop an active community beyond its initial release.
As with every new TCG, future prices, availability, and collector demand cannot be guaranteed. Collectors should focus primarily on the characters, artwork, decks, and products they genuinely enjoy rather than treating every card as a guaranteed investment.
